George M. Morvis Jr. is President & CEO of F.S.C. Hawaii, Inc. a Hawaii-based
management consulting firm which provides strategic consulting, execution support, financial communications consulting and emerging bsuiness services. Morvis also serves as principal of Waha, Watson & Wescadian, LLC, which provides strategic advisory and project development services, and principal investing capabilities.
From 2012 to 2017, Morvis served as Vice President of Corporate Development for Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. (NYSE: ALEX), where he was responsible for all non-real estate investment for Hawaii's premier publicly held company. In addition to overseeing the Company's corporate development, investor relations and strategic planning functions, his primary focus was on generating Hawaii-centric growth through infrastructure and renewable energy investments. During his tenure, the Company spun off its domestic shipping subsidiary, Matson Navigation, placed nearly $500 million in capital as a result of investments he led, and evaluated a potential conversion to a Real Esatate Investment Trust (REIT). Morvis also led A&B's Kauai land management, infrastructure and renewable energy operations, and chaired A&B's pension investment committee.
This was Morvis' second stint at the firm: in the mid 1990s he served as A&B's manager, investor relations, and his responsibilities encompassed strategic planning and business feasibility studies as well as managing financial communications and investor relations.
Morvis received his MBA in 1993 from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, where he majored in marketing, finance and international business. Morvis also holds a bachelors degree with high honors in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He began his career in 1989 with First Hawaiian Bank, Honolulu, in the bank’s management training program. His responsibilities included stints in the Consumer Banking Center and as a credit analyst. In 1989, he was selected to serve as a health program budget analyst for the Hawaiian State Legislature’s House Finance Committee.
Mr. Morvis has passed the National Commodity Futures Exam (NASD Series 3). He has also passed the NASD Series 7 and 66 exams, although these registrations are not currently active.
From 2000 to 2007, while working with FSC, he concurrently served as as CEO of Hawaiian Fruit Specialties, LLC, a Hawaii-based manufacturer of tropical-fruit based shelf stable food productsfor the retail, institutional and private label markets. He led the identification, aquisition, turn around and exit of this Hawaii-based venture.
Morvis splits time between Chicago, New Mexico, and Hawaii.
